Home life as a child: The Latours were a fairly close family, for a while. Maxine lived in Haiti until she was five, at which point their family decided to do the immigrant thing and moved to South Carolina. At the time, Maxine was five, and Lyla was 13. Bram and Mina both got jobs working for a friend who owned a hotel, which eventually became a chain, which lead to the Latour's coming into a bit of money when the family friend decided to give them coownership.

Now that the Latour family had money, they thought it right to focus on getting Maxine the best help academically that was possible, which they had been unable to do with Lyla. Maxine spent most of her time reading and studying, while her sister made her own fun. The two knew how to meet at the middle, but they had many more differences than similarities.

The majority of Maxine's life was painfully average for a bookworm like her. She spent much of her time reading and learning, while her sister ran with a less "attractive" crowd, getting into drugs and such. Maxine avoided her sister's lifestyle, but always considered herself close to her, even when Lyla moved out and had a child who she was unsure of the father.

The day came when even Maxine had to move out, and she went off to college at Cornell University in New York. Even while she was away, Maxine and Lyla made sure to keep in touch while their lives went on. It was in this time that Maxine met Landon, another student who was learning Dentistry. As their relationship grew, Lyla slowly faded out of the picture, going off to do her own thing. Eventually, the two would get married, and Maxine stopped studying psychology to work for him as they settled into their life together.

And for a while, they were perfectly happy, Landon the dentist, Maxine the head receptionist, making a decent living in New York for years. That was, until Lyla reappeared. Lyla had had three children, each with a different father, none of which she was sure of. She'd appeared for a few days, wanting to let her daughters get to know their aunt and uncle. It was nice, for a few days, until one night, Lyla asked Maxine to watch her girls for a while until she came back... and then never returned.

In best interests of the nieces, Maxine and Landon moved to Connecticut, not far from New Haven. When Landon joined a previously existing practice, it left Maxine free to finish her degreel while the girls were in their classes. It took Maxine another year to finish up her schooling, but now she's ready to put what she's learned to good use.

Now, Maxine lives with her husband of 7 years, Landon Bailey, as well as her neices, Amelia (12), Kennedy (9), and Neve (6). Maxine used to live in Boston until her husband decided to open his own dentist office in a yuppie town in Connecticut. She hasn't worked in a few months, and wants to get a chance to finally put her education to good use.
